Newer models of Android tablets come with a built-in feature that enables you to cast the contents of your device onto a TV. This is particularly helpful if you are wishing to enjoy the movies or any of the videos stored on your tablet on the big screen.
It is relatively easier to cast your favorite videos or pictures onto a TV using your tablet rather than any other streaming device. The tablet can be connected to the TV by either wired or wireless means. Below is how to connect your Android tablet to a TV.
Micro HDMI or HDMI Cable
Using an HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) cable is one of the easiest and most inexpensive options to connect your tablet to a TV. Most of the tablets available have either a micro HDMI or HDMI port that allows it to be connected to any kind of multimedia devices. Plug in the tablet into the cable and connect it the HDMI input of your TV.
The contents of the tablet can be viewed on your TV by switching the source of the TV from the RF or composite video channels to the HDMI port. Place the device in landscape mode after it is connected to offer a better viewing experience in your TV.
MHL or Mobile High Definition Link is another wired option that can be used to connect your Android tablet to a TV. However, you must first check whether your tablet supports MHL before going with this option. It is the same as an HDMI cable, but is more expensive.
MHL offers support to carry both audio and video, and enables the transfer of eight channels of surround sound. Newer MHL cables provide support to up to 4K resolution and can offer an excellent viewing experience on your TV.
Chromecast is available in most of the tablet models that are running on Android 4.4.2 or higher versions. It is also a much cheaper option that allows you to both cast and mirror your tablet contents wirelessly to your TV. However, using Chromecast requires you to first download the Google Home app from the Play Store.
To connect your tablet to a TV using Chromecast, make sure that both the devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Open the Google Home app and select the menu tab indicated by three lines. Go to Cast Screen/Audio > Cast Screen/Audio and select the device that you want to connect.
Roku and its newer models offer the ability to cast the tablet display onto your TV. This can be accessible in the Settings menu of Roku devices. On your tablet, go to Display and select the Cast option, which will list all the options available. However, you need to make sure that Roku and your tablet are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
